WHERE REPUTATION MATTERS.

Bespoke & Luxury Bathrooms in Cheshire

A bathroom doesn't have to be particularly old to need changing. Sometimes it's the layout that's the problem. The shower takes up too much room, there's nowhere useful to store anything, or the fittings just aren't where you'd like them.

Bathroom Renovation & Installation

Cheshire Builders carries out bespoke bathroom renovations across Cheshire, including main bathrooms, en suites and complete bathroom refurbishments. We manage the building work around your chosen design, taking care of the trades needed to get the room ready and the new bathroom installed.

Our team brings over 20 years of hands-on construction experience to the work. That matters when a bathroom renovation involves changes to the room itself, not just replacing the existing suite.

Making the Most of Your Space

Bespoke Bathroom Design & Layout

Before settling on a new bathroom suite, it's worth finding out what the room will actually allow.

Moving a shower might free up a useful corner for storage, but its new position needs to work with the drainage. The same applies to a freestanding bath. It may be the feature you've always wanted, but there still needs to be enough room to clean around it and reach the other fittings comfortably.

We work with your chosen bathroom design and can get involved when the plans are still being developed. A sketch or photograph can be a useful starting point if you haven't settled on the layout.

If the existing room needs structural changes, we can assess those as part of the wider building project.

The aim is to get the space working properly before you commit to the new fittings and furniture.

Tiles & Finishes

Luxury Bathroom Tiles & Finishes

Large-format tiles can give a luxury bathroom a clean, contemporary appearance, particularly when you're trying to reduce the number of visible grout lines.

They can be less forgiving of uneven surfaces, though. Preparation matters, as an uneven wall can leave tiles sitting at slightly different levels. It's the sort of thing that stands out once the lighting and bathroom furniture are installed.

Smaller tiles offer more flexibility around features and awkward corners. The pattern needs planning carefully so you're not left with narrow cuts in prominent parts of the room.

Bathroom flooring deserves equal attention. For a frequently used shower room, check that the chosen floor tile has a suitable slip rating for its intended use.

Then there are the fittings themselves. Chrome brassware can work well with a traditional bathroom design, whereas brushed brass or darker finishes may suit a more contemporary style.

The important part is how everything is fitted. Tile edges should finish neatly around fittings, with the appropriate waterproofing and sealing dealt with before the room is ready for use.

These are the details that deserve attention on a luxury bathroom project.

Bathroom Types

Main Bathrooms, En Suites & Cloakrooms

We work on different types of bathroom renovation, including projects that involve changing the existing room.

01

Family & Main Bathrooms

A family bathroom needs to cope with regular use, often by several people in the same household.

Keeping the bath might be important, especially with younger children, but that doesn't mean the rest of the layout has to stay the same. Changing its position could leave room for a separate shower or more useful storage.

Where fittings need moving, the plumbing and available floor space will influence what's practical.

02

En Suite Bathrooms

If you're planning a new en suite, the position of the drainage needs attention early.

Creating a shower room within an existing bedroom may mean working around the position of the soil pipe and the available floor structure. These details can affect where the shower and toilet are best placed.

For an existing en suite, changing the layout may give you room for a larger shower or more practical bathroom furniture.

03

Shower Rooms & Cloakrooms

Small spaces can be awkward to plan, particularly when the door opens into the room.

A compact basin or wall-mounted furniture can leave more usable floor space in a cloakroom. Shower rooms need enough clearance around the enclosure, with suitable drainage and waterproofing planned before the finishing work begins.

Beyond the Bathroom Suite

The Building Work Behind Your New Bathroom

Removing an old bathroom can reveal problems that weren't obvious beforehand.

Damaged plaster may need replacing, and an uneven floor can require attention before the new tiles are laid. If the layout is changing, the existing plumbing might not be in the right position for the replacement fittings.

A shower area needs more than a tiled surface to protect the structure behind it. Suitable waterproofing must be addressed before tiling, particularly in areas exposed to regular water.

Ventilation matters too. A bathroom that regularly fills with steam needs suitable extraction to help manage moisture.

These are all points to establish when planning the construction work. Dealing with them during preparation avoids having to disturb newly finished surfaces later.

Cheshire Builders offers wider building and renovation services, including structural alterations. We can manage bathroom projects that involve changes beyond a straightforward suite replacement.

Coordinating the Work

Bathroom Fitting & Installation

Once the work has been agreed, the different trades need to follow the right sequence.

The old fittings come out before the condition of the room can be fully assessed. Any agreed changes to plumbing and drainage need sorting before the finishing work. Walls and floors then need to be suitable for the chosen installation.

There's little point fitting expensive bathroom furniture against a wall that still needs attention.

Cheshire Builders manages the building project and coordinates the trades required for the agreed work. You have one experienced point of contact, so there's someone overseeing how the different stages fit together.

If your bathroom is part of a larger home renovation, we can include it within that building project.

Getting Started

Planning Your Bathroom Renovation

Have you already visited a showroom or chosen the suite you'd like? Bring the details along when you get in touch.

Drawings, tile samples and photographs are useful for showing us the finish you have in mind. We'll need to know which parts of the existing bathroom you want to change and whether you're considering a different layout.

For a larger refurbishment, the construction requirements need to be established before the installation can be planned properly.

You don't need to have every product selected at this point. It's more useful to understand what you want from the room and the work involved in getting there.

See Our Bathroom Projects

Our bathroom gallery is a useful place to start if you're planning a renovation.

It contains photographs of completed bathroom work, giving you the chance to see actual projects rather than relying on showroom displays or stock photographs.

Take a look through the different finishes and completed rooms. You might find something you'd like to incorporate into your own bathroom design, or a detail that helps explain the style you're aiming for.
